The Head of the Public Service, Cherie Whitter, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. David Roberts as the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Justice.
Mr. Roberts’ appointment took effect May 1.
In this capacity, Mr. Roberts will work under the policy direction of the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Sen. the Hon. Kim Wilkerson, JP, and will be responsible for providing strategic leadership in the Ministry of Justice.
He will also serve as a principal advisor to the Minister of Justice, ensuring that the Ministry’s priorities are advanced with efficiency, integrity and a commitment to service excellence.
Mr. Roberts brings to the post more than two (2) decades of distinguished executive management experience, with a career spanning leadership roles across the public service in Trinidad and Tobago.
Most recently, he served as Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sport and Community Development, where he provided strategic oversight of four state entities and led key initiatives to enhance operational effectiveness. His prior appointments include Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister, Communications and Chief Executive Officer of TTT Limited, where he successfully drove operational reforms, strengthened governance frameworks and increased organisational performance.
Mr. Roberts holds an International Master of Business Administration (Entrepreneurship and Innovation) from the Arthur Lok Jack Global School of Business, University of the West Indies and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Business Administration from Anglia Ruskin University.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Roberts has demonstrated a strong commitment to civic engagement, having served as a Global Ambassador for the International Business Innovation Association (INBIA) and as a member of the Trinidad and Tobago Transparency Institute.
